our mission
605 Magazine is a privately funded monthly publication for young adults that is distributed throughout the community free of charge (visit our locations page for more information on where you can pick one up).
In a nutshell, 605 Magazine is for both males and females with content on life, entertainment, fashion, health, and fitness. The main goal of the publication is to help all youth connect, unwind and highlight young people who are making a difference in their community.
605 Magazine has been molded for the youth and is by the youth. All of our contributors on board are either still attending college or are young adults fresh in the workplace who have a passion and drive for writing.
What is most important to us at 605 is to give the youth what they don't have in other local publications: A voice.

Alana Snyder
Founder | Editor-in-Chief
Email: asnyder [at] 605magazine.com
Alana received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Dakota with a double major in Contemporary Media & Journalism and English. If you can’t tell, she is passionate about the written word. After writing for a local women’s magazine in town, Alana realized there was nothing geared towards young adults and wanted to create a publication to celebrate young culture in a growing, vibrant city. She hopes to recognize young adults who make a difference and help local businesses thrive as they target an underserved part of the community.
John Snyder
Director of Sales & Marketing

John was born in Philadelphia, Pa in the glorious ‘80s: the same year the first IBM PC went on sale and the DeLorean rolled off the line. He has since lived in Cocoa Beach, FL, Honolulu, HI and Hollywood, CA. John has been living in Sioux Falls, SD since 2007 and has purchased his first home in town. He loves everything about Sioux Falls except the frigid winters. He is excited to bring a lot of outside perspective to the great group at 605 and the clients looking to reach its readers. In his spare time, John enjoys learning Muay Thai and BJJ, bird watching, smoking his Savinelli pipe, watching the History Channel, and playing in the backyard with his two dogs.

Chris Heinemeyer
Sales Account Manager
Email: cheinemeyer [at] 605magazine.com
Chris was born and raised in the nice, warm rays in Southern California. He studied Business Administration and Marketing at Fullerton College, all the while taking full advantage of the fast-paced, action-packed lifestyle that California had to offer.
In 2007, Chris wanted to slow down and moved his family to Brandon, SD. Now Chris enjoys the simpler things in life, such as spending time with his family, playing with the dog, and hanging out with friends and family. Chris has over 15 years of collective sales and management experience he uses to help local businesses achieve their marketing goals by incorporating time tested techniques, along with new, innovated ideas.
Chris believes in the philosophy that selling isn't something you do to someone, it is something you do for and with someone. In his spare time Chris enjoys perfecting his grilling and BBQ skills, and hopes to win the South Dakota State BBQ Championship someday.
